30 By 30: Climbing Mount Elmore

This year has been filled with so many changes.  Between leaving my old firm, starting at my new firm, and a big move out of the city, my 30 by 30 list has been very much neglected.  I've made peace with it though because I'm looking forward to completing the rest of the items as a 30 while 30 list!

This past weekend, Bret and I took a relaxing long weekend to Stowe, Vermont.

We stayed at the lovely Stowe Meadows Lodge, where Bret arranged a romantic surprise or two waiting for us!

We had some fantastic food, drank lots of wine by the fire, and just enjoyed our time together.

Since climbing a mountain is on my 30 by 30 list, Bret did some research and found a great hike for us up Mount Elmore to complete last weekend.  Since the Elmore State Park was closed, we actually had to do a pretty steep walk up to the trail.  From there, the hike was about five miles in total.

We climbed to a beautiful peak and took in the scenic views.

We kept going to the very top of the mountain to a really cool open fire tower.  It was definitely chilly, steep and a bit icy up top, but it was definitely worth the view!

Between running 5Ks and climbing a mountain for the first time, I feel really proud of the physical activities I've pushed myself with this year.  If you know me at all, you'll know that I'm more of a spa day kind of girl but I realize how great it feels to push yourself to do something that is physically tough for you.

I'm hoping to knock five more items off my list so that I can at least have finished half of my list but in the meantime, here's my latest 30 by 30 update!
