Sunday Brunch at Papagayo

I was trying to get together with my friend M, but rather than dragging her over to the Back Bay I decided to go towards her neck of the woods.  After a little searching (being the blogger it was up to me!) I settled on Papagayo.  I had heard so many good things about the food and drinks there, so I was excited to give it a go.  At about 11:00am I met M over in Fort Point Channel and was seated at an almost empty Papagayo.  We were immediately greeted by our server who was more than willing to go over the menu and make suggestions.   After ordering some coffee and mimosas we continued chatting and catching up and trying to make some decisions on food.

The menu had a bunch of great brunch options that seemed more traditional but with a big twist.  For example, I got the Mexican eggs Benedict, which were poached eggs, English muffins, Chipotle Hollandaise, home fries and chili-lime dressed greens.

The dressing on the greens was tangy and refreshing - certainly a great contrast to the spice of the chorizo, which replaced the traditional Canadian ham on the Eggs Benedict.  Paired with the chipotle in the Hollandaise, there was a ton of great spicy flavor in each bite.  I really enjoyed this dish, but there is a lot of heat so it is not for the faint of heart.

M decided on the Rice Crispy Coated Texas Toast, and since crunchy toast wass something I had experianced, I highly recommended it.  In addition to being coated witht he crunchy cereal it had caramelized bananas and cinnamon syrup, which took this French Toast to a whole new level.

After both plates were completely cleaned up, M and I still had some catching up to do (and it was finally noon) so we ordered some big girl drinks.  I went with the Fresh Coconut Margarita which had Avion Blanco, Ciroc Coco, Coconut Milk and muddled lime.  I mean, I was sold on the name alone, but when it came out with the toasted coconut rim I was so excited.  Even better, the drink tasted better than it looked - so delicious.  I would highly recommend this drink to anyone going to Papagayo.

After a discussion with our server about his recommendations, M got the Tequila Breezer, which had Esplano Blanco, Malibu, Pineapple, Grenadine and blue Curacao.  Again, another delicious drink!

I loved my whole brunch at Papagayo - great food and tasty drinks.  While I am not a Bloody Mary person, they had a great looking make-your-own Bloody Mary bar, which had tons great condiments and additions.  By the time we got up to go, the restaurant started to fill up with people and plenty of delicious looking lunch dishes were going by.

I definitely will be heading back over to Papagayo for some food and drink soon.
