Since they sparked so much intrigue, I decided to dedicate a post. Presenting Sally Hansen's newest product: Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips.
Better described as do-it-yourself stick on nail polish. Understand that I did not get these done at a salon; this is no Minx treatment. The box cost $10 and change at CVS and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. While I hemmed and hawed in front of the end cap display, typical questions ran through my mind; was the price worth it? Would I be able to apply them with ease? Would they last? Come to find out, the answers are Yes, Yes and Yes.
More expensive than your typical drug store nail polish: clearly.A longer application process: definitely.
Applied on Sunday and chip factor as of Thursday: barely.
Understand the application of these nails takes some precision and dedication. It is not for the easily frustrated and you must purchase with an open mind and apply with a steady hand. Easy to follow, step-by-step directions are included in the package. 
Points to Remember / helpful tips:-Everyones nail size is different. The strip is not going to magically fit your nail, the process involves shaping to size.
-If it seems like they are not sticking at first- they will. Have faith. Apply pressure to the nail for a good 10 seconds if necessary (the directions don't specify this but it seemed to work for me.)
-Double the usage: I found one strip can be sliced in half and applied to the same fingernail on the opposite hand. (Again, not specified in the package but with all that extra adhesive left over it seemed almost implied.)
I'm a big fan of the Hounsdtooth (or Sabertooth as my cousins like to call it!) but if that's not your thing Sally offers a decent range of designs and colors. At my CVS I spotted patterns including denim, leopard and lace as well as solids in metallic gold, silver and neon colors. Now that I know this works like a charm, I'm totally going back for the denim! And whatever other funky patterns I think I can pull off. Would you wear these?
