After getting into NYC on Saturday morning, we checked into our hotel and kicked off a whirlwind weekend. We got a great rate at the Doubletree Hotel in the Financial District. I was definitely excited to get my warm chocolate chip cookie when checking in!
We spent the day shopping in Soho with my sister (who happened to coincidentally be in New York last weekend too) and Samantha. We stopped for lunch at Fanelli's Cafe before parting ways and heading back to the hotel to get ready for the night.
Dinner involved the most light and fluffy gnocchi at Zucca Trattoria in the West Village. We had some time to kill before the birthday party so we decided to kill time in the best way possible.
Samantha's birthday party was at Le Poisson Rouge, which involved going through some interesting back entrances and red-lit hallways. I can't even explain how weird it was but it was great to celebrate Samantha's birthday and to see some old friends that I haven't seen in ages!
At the end of the night, there were four of us still standing...
...so we ended the night (or perhaps started the morning) with some traditional Korean food in Koreatown. By the time Bret and I got Samantha to the PATH and my sister to her hotel, it was definitely almost 5 AM.
We were a little bleary-eyed the next morning but we rebounded with a ridiculous brunch buffet at Ulysses with one of Bret's college pals and her boyfriend.
By the time brunch was over, Bret and I wandered through the city before catching our bus back to Boston!
It was a whirlwind, jam-packed but extremely fun-filled weekend that was worth every minute!
How was your weekend?
