When Life Gives You Rain....

Yesterday was my nephew's 4th birthday party.  While we were happy to have an excuse to get our new car out on the road, Bret and I were both really worried that the pouring rain would ruin Noah's party.  The birthday party was supposed to be held outdoors at the Massabesic Audubon Center and I kept thinking how disappointed the kids would be with the weather.

You know what?  The kids had a blast.  The kind folks at the Audubon Center smoothly adapted their program for indoors.  The kids were all smiles as they pet turtles, played games, and ate cake and ice cream.  I don't think a single child remembered that they were supposed to be playing outdoors or that this was a back-up plan.

Lesson learned?  I think as adults, we tend to get bogged down by the details.  But sometimes you need to go with the flow and enjoy the detours life throws at you.
