We kicked things off with drinks and dinner at Fat Belly's.
Cocktails in the form of a Watermelon Margarita for me and a Skye Pineapple and ginger ale for the birthday girl.Dinner consisted of The Bow Street Burger ($9.95)
A juicy half pound burger is fire grilled and topped with Swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms, onions and bacon. It is served with lettuce, tomato, red onion and hand cut sweet potato fries. There was an intense thunder and lightning storm happening while we ate!I drank another Watermelon Margarita because the first one was so spectacular. The storm lifted and we headed over to the popular Ri Ra Irish Pub. The grand building in which Ri Ra's is located once housed the Bank of New Hampshire and later the Portsmouth Savings Bank. There was a $3 cover at the door and a great band was playing. I drank a Gin Gimlet first and later an Old Fashioned. (From tequila to gin to whiskey, my drinks this evening were all over the map!)
Late night I enjoyed a Reeses Ice Cream Sundae Cake topped with whipped cream. Peanut butter and chocolate heaven and So You Think You Can Dance on DVR rounded out a great Friday night. Saturday began with Breaking New Grounds coffee, as every morning in Portsmouth should.
I ordered a large iced hazelnu coffee. It was accompanied by an egg, cheese, tomato & onion wrap from Bagel Works.
Corinne, Tricia and I enjoyed breakfast outside on Congress street. Then we ventured to the beach!
Saturday was a scorcher. I think temps clocked in at 94 degrees.
I kept cool drinking Nantucket Nectars Half & Half and swimming in the ice cold Atlantic Ocean. The tide was coming in (compare to the shots above taken earlier in the day.)
Eventually it came all the way up to the rocks. High tide was literally bye bye beach. We had a solid three plus hours enjoying the sun and each others company before we called it a day.
Was it hot where you live this weekend? How did you beat the heat?!
