This past Saturday, Bret and I headed to South Station to catch a train to Bret's parents' house. We had gotten up with enough time to work out, shower and head out the door but not enough time to have breakfast. We decided to grab a bite to eat at South Station before we jumped on our train. While there are a few quick food options in South Station, we knew exactly what we wanted to try - Cheeseboy.
Since opening in South Station in the past year, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about this take-out grilled cheese stand. Neither Bret nor I have had the chance to try out Cheeseboy and we were both excited to finally give it a go.
The menu is limited with a few signature grilled cheese sandwiches, along with a make-your-own option. Bret and I both decided to make our own and watched with great interest as the grilled cheeses were prepared before us and packaged in these miniature pizza box-like boxes.
I created a grilled cheese using Italian bread, cheddar cheese and jalapeno peppers.
I've got to say that this grilled cheese sandwich did not disappoint. I loved that there were thin slices of bread perfectly grilled to a golden-brown color that sandwiched a generous helping of gooey melted cheese.
I thought my grilled cheese was, dare I say it, perfect. I was completely satisfied with my choice, although it did make an odd breakfast choice.
Cheeseboy is located at 720 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, MA in the South Station train concourse. They have other locations in New England and another location opening up at the Prudential Center sometime this year.
