Peapod: Delivers Quality Food In a Snap!

A momentus event took place last night at our apartment. However, I can't take any of the credit, because ordering groceries online via Stop & Shops infamous Peapod service was all Adam's idea. He took the initiative and from the time he sat down at the computer on Monday evening and placed the food order, to the time the Peapod delivery man arrived on Tuesday evening, I have never seen him get so excited about groceries. We've lived car-less in Boston's North End - a tiny neighborhood with narrow one-way streets and limited parking for about 2 1/2 years now. This was our first time ever ordering groceries online. Those of you who have been reading for quite sometime understand my grocery shopping limitations:
A) Small North End grocers charge an arm and a leg for everything.
B) They are just that: Small. Certain ingredients are not always attainable.
C) Wheeling a cart to the T stop, waiting for the T, taking it 5 stops, wheeling the cart through the Back Bay neighborhood to Shaws and doing it all over again on the way home is a production.

Now, hear me when I say, I am not complaining. I'm just explaining to you the reality of the situation. I choose to live in this neighborhood and I choose not to have a car. (Actually, with the rent I pay, I can't afford a car, but that is neither here nor there.) The benefits of loving where I live (the 15 minute commute to work for starters) far outweight details such as paying more for my groceries. So what did we think of Peapod overall? The one major con (guarantee the majority of you just had a massive heart attack looking at that picture) is the plastic bag usage. I've been better lately about re-usable grocery bags and this monstrosity of plastic isn't helping the cause. But other than that, I was impressed. It was pretty exciting in an instant (overnight) to have all the groceries right there infront of you! I thought even with the shipping price included we still made out well. Stop & Shop offers $10 off for first time customers so that was a nice incentive. We got a lot more groceries than we could ever physically carry and we paid a lot less for them. Adam got right to to work in the kitchen. He marinated and cooked us some thick juicy steaks. He also steamed some broccoli and corn. It was my idea to spread Borsin Cheese over the top of mine. Have you ever had a Boursin Cheeseburger?Well I have and they are pretty incredible. I also think the blue cheese crumbles on the petit fillet I ate in Vermont had me thinking: Boursin Cheese Steaks. It was quite the match made in heaven.
Tonight is my turn to cook.
I'm thinking a variation on this dish I made before the blog was in existance! Mozzarella Pork Cutlet with linguine in a lemon butter caper sauce & sauteed zucchini. If all goes a planned I'll post the recipe tomorrow!

P.S. Top Chef Finale tonight!! You all know I'm outta the pool, but I'm still invested in CC's picks. Which means I'm rooting for either Angelo or Kevin to win this seasons title!
