Good vs. Evil: Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert

On Friday night, after our dinner at Tremont 647, Bret and I headed to Symphony Hall for an entertaining evening with Anthony Bourdain and Eric Ripert.

It was a surprisingly intimate evening which started out with two "interrogations".

First, Bourdain grilled Ripert on his culinary background and on things like his major dislike for reality TV chef Gordon Ramsay.  After some time, Bourdain also ended up in the hot seat and was asked some very pointed questions about his notorious drug history.

After this scripted "good versus evil" interrogation, the two chefs sat and conversed on some topics like the "farm to table" movement and favorite Boston restaurants.  They both had strong opinions and they weren't afraid to express them.  It felt like we were eavesdropping on two good friends sharing some beers and talking shop.

After some time, Bourdain and Ripert took questions from the audience.  Although this was a little scattered and disorganized, it was entertaining and the audience couldn't stop laughing and cheering both of these chefs on.

For a great re-cap, check out Devra First's review here.  This was such a fun night and I'm so glad we didn't miss this speaking session!

Afterwards, Bret and I met up with our friends Abby and Alexis, who were also in attendance.  We ended the night with cocktails at Bar 10.  I actually haven't been there since law school and I forgot how much fun this hotel bar could be.  Plus, they have the most addictive complimentary cocktail nuts, which we definitely had refilled more than once!

Bar 10 is located in the Westin Copley at 10 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA.
