Cathy, the mastermind behind Red White Boston, and Meghan of Travel, Wine, and Dine hosted the launch party at Sonsie. The party was, appropriately, held in the wine cellar.
Those of us in attendance, including some of my favorite bloggers -- Alicia and Kristen -- filled out Mad Lib-like questionnaires about Red White Boston, sipped wine, and snacked on pizza and cheese.
We tried three different pizzas, and each one featured a different kind of cheese.
Goat cheese and kalamata olive pizza |
Mozzarella, tomato, and pesto pizza |
Brie, mushroom, and caramelized onion pizza |
While we ate, we chatted with Cathy and Meghan about the app.

With the free app, you can:
- Check out a review of the wine written specifically by local wine store owners.
- Use social media to connect you to the wines that your friends have tried and reviewed.
- Conveniently locate the wine store closest to you according to your smartphone’s GPS.
- Bookmark wines to refer back to and keep notes on your favorites.
- Share your opinion of the wine on Facebook/Twitter.
- Call a wine store if you have questions.
Red White Boston is partnering with wine stores all over the Boston area -- including Bauer Wine & Spirits, Boston Wine Exchange, Central Bottle, and Urban Grape. Participating wine stores will each select five to eight of their favorite wines. When you use the app and walk into these stores, you'll already know a number of wines that the owners recommend.
In addition to the super-useful app, Red White Boston will feature a giveaway each week for a dinner for two (plus beverages). The giveaway encourages local restaurants to get involved with the app and rewards users who actively engage with the app's social media platforms.
To learn more about Red White Boston, just download the app or visit RWB's Web site. You can also find Red White Boston on Twitter and Facebook.
What do you think of this app? Is it something you could see yourself using often? What other features would be helpful to you?
