It's here! Well almost here. You guys saw the Bridal Shower back in August at the Boston Harbor Hotel and the Bachelorette Party a few weekends ago which included a day at the spa, dinner in the North End at Taranta and a night of dancing at Sanctuary. Last night, the church rehearsal and dinner party marked the start of Kirsten & Phil's wedding weekend. If you are new to the blog (welcome new readers!) Kirsten is my boyfriend Adam's twin sister. I snapped some photos of the church while the bridal party practiced their walk. The interior is just lovely. The private dinning room at The Common Market Restaurant in Quincy was done up tastefully in deep brown linens and festive fall colored bouquets. We enjoyed plates of cheese and crackers and fresh fruit as well as passed appetizers of beef wellington puff pastries, shrimp cocktail, chicken satay and beef tenderloin. I sipped on multiple glasses of Chardonnay. Dinner was served buffet style, which pretty much guarantees my plate will be filled to the brim. The eyes are bigger than the stomach for sure. I piled the food on including salad, shrimp scampi, mashes potatoes, acorn squash, cranberry sauce and from the carving station - turkey and prime rib.A hearty thanksgiving-esque meal, all the food was well prepared and just delicious. So, I ended up wearing the dress I purchased back in July from Anthropologie, the "Grosgrain Peaks Dress" in Navy/Marin. Remember when I asked you guys your opinions on wearing it to the black tie optional wedding?! Well despite the overwhelming response that would be a solid option if I "dressed it up", I went with the minority vote and decided to buy a much fancier, floor length gown for the wedding. I want everyone to know I appreciated the comments and advice. One reader mentioned to pair this dress with sleek nude pumps, and I did just that. I had a pair of Anne Klein heels that fit the sleek nude pump bill already in my closet. (Unfortunately they were chopped them out of every picture!)The splurge was put to good use and hopefully it's not a one time wear, either! We wrapped up the party with dessert pastries and coffee and then Karaoke downstairs in the bar, where I drank a few Bud Lights until the crowd thinned and tired set in. Today I ran some errands with the bride, had a much needed date with the DVR and napped on my couch. It was nice to have a day in between the rehearsal and the wedding. Can't wait for tomorrow!
