After sending my brother the
blondies, I was left with an almost full loaf of white bread. While its good for a few Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches, there were only so many leftovers! Next best thing to do with white sandwich bread? FRENCH TOAST, cheap bread style. It was a great way to use up the whole milk, too.

Friday Vacation Breakfast |
The Necessities...
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- cinnamon
- vanilla
- nutmeg
 |
Ingredients... |
I added the eggs, milk cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg to a bowl.
 |
Components |
and then gave it all a big stir.
 |
Ready for bread |
One by one, I added the sliced bread to the bowl and let it soak up all the goodness.
 |
Soaking it all in |
I then added the bread packed with goodness to a non-stick pan that I had spritzed some PAM on and cooked the bread over medium heat until each side was nice and brown.
 |
Toasting |
Voilà - french toast, cheap bread style! So much of the cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla soaked into the bread that it almost looked like I used wheat bread.
 |
French Toast |
This was such an easy breakfast and a great way to use up a brunch of bread rather than just making a boat load of breadcrumbs! While definitely not true french toast, this was not a bad substitute.
Anyone else have fun flavor combinations for french toast?
