New Traditions: Hanukkah

After decorating the Christmas tree on Tuesday night, Bret and I were excited to celebrate Hanukkah last night.  While we've celebrated Hanukkah with his family in the past, this is the first year that we've lit candles together.  Even though I'm a newbie to celebrating Hanukkah, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love lighting the candles with Bret last night.

Okay, enough gushing.

After we lit the menorah, Bret got to work frying up some amazing potato latkes.

We weren't quite sure what to make with the latkes.  We didn't have enough time to make a brisket and had just eaten red meat on Monday night.  Turkey was obviously out of the question.  So we went for the non-traditional dish of spicy chicken sausage, peppers and onions.

Traditional? No.  Delicious? Yes.

If you celebrate, I hope you had a wonderful first night of Hanukkah!
And don't forget that today is the last day to enter my Lea & Perrins giveaway!
