Brunch on the water at Aragosta - Battery Wharf

A couple of weekends ago one of my good friends, C, was going to be coming into town for a brief visit.  After L worked out the logistical and timing issues, I was put in charge of finding the location.  Since it was going to be a nice day and I had to head to Charlestown later that day I thought it was a good opportunity to try out Aragosta Bar and Bistro at the Fairmont Battery Wharf, which has a lovely outdoor eating area.  I met up with C right as I arrived and the host quickly seated us outside, which was nicely protected from the hot sun and perfectly situated on the water.  While we waited for L to arrive we enjoyed a cup (or pitcher) of coffee and looked over the menu.

A spot of coffee

Soon after L arrived and ordered her mint tea, our server brought us an assortment of mini scones.  While not fresh out of my own kitchen, these were yummy and a nice treat.  The presentation of the large cutting board and contemporary butter dish enhanced the presentation.

Scones!
While were sitting and chatting, it really could have not been nicer out.  The views of the harbor were perfect from our seat - being able to watch all the comings and goings was a perfect backdrop to brunch.

View from our table
For entrees, I ordered the stuffed chives crepes.  The reason I was immediately drawn to this dish was that the crepes were filled with Gruyere, grilled ham, and scrambled eggs.  The dish was tasty and all the flavors were there, however I think the stuffing of the crepe was almost too cheesy, which is not something I say often!  The fingerling potatoes were well seasoned and helped balance out the flavors of the dish.

Stuffed Crepes
L went for the malted blueberry pancakes that were light, fluffy and plentiful!  The only issue really was the syrup was applied in the kitchen so it had really soaked into the pancakes by the time they made it to the table.  This process does not work for the syrup dippers among us.

Pancakes
Finally, C ordered the Coast Guard Omelet, which is an omelet filled with lobster, brie cheese, asparagus and chopped chives.  Needless to say there was a lot of goodness wrapped up in this omelet.  As you can see there was no scimping on the lobster either.  Lots of good flavors - this also had a lot of cheese in it, but C did not seem to mind.

Omelet
Aragosta was the perfect setting for a brunch to catch up with old friends and enjoy waterfront views.  The servers were attentive without hovering, especially considering our odd timing because of all the chatting!  The food was tasty and at a reasonable price point.  If you haven't headed to enjoy the outdoor eating area at Aragosta, I recommend doing it soon (before the warm summer weekends pass us by!)
