Last night, I was lucky to be invited to an event hosted by the W Boston Hotel and Bliss Spa. Bliss Spa is planning on opening their doors in the W Boston Hotel on June 11th. As part of their spa amenities, Bliss Spa will be offering their guests a mini brownie bar to indulge in before and after their spa treatment. But they wanted to make sure that they offered the best local brownie. This is where I come in. I was invited, along with some amazing local food bloggers, to judge which brownie we thought was the best. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it!
There were three great options:
Flour Bakery, which had an almost fudge-like dense brownie:
Rosie's Bakery, which was the only one with a nice crust to its brownie:
South End Buttery, which had (in my opinion) the most intense chocolate flavor:
There was much discussion as we cleansed our palate with a glass (or two) of complimentary wine and the opinions heavily varied. In the end, I went with South End Buttery for striking chocolate goodness.
We were also introduced to some of Bliss Spa's products and were offered complimentary hand massages. If there is anything a food blogger loves more than trying out food is to get a massage for those computer-typing hands.
We had a blast and I was excited to finally meet the authors of some of my favorite local food blogs like Athena from Forays of a Finance Foodie, Kerstin from Cake, Batter, and Bowl (and also recent Ultimate Recipe Showdown fame), Pam from Cave Cibum, the ever so friendly Richard of the Passionate Foodie, and Alicia of the Clean Plate Club.
Of course, it was also great to see some familiar faces like the always fabulous Chelsee and Susie of We are Not Martha, Simone Press of the Boston Herald, Christine Liu of Citysearch Boston, Alex of Banter If You Please, and Lingbo Li. I even managed to grab a photo with Alex and Lingbo:
We had a great time and the result will be posted sometime in the next month before Bliss Spa opens. Thanks again to Director of Bliss Spa, Amy McHugh, and Mallory Dion of Kortenhaus Communications for inviting me to this very fun event!
